Costume Rules
1. There will be absolutely NO eating, drinking, or smoking in costume, even if it might be a costume that an actor has provided for themselves. Water is the ONLY acceptable beverage. If an actor is caught with anything other than water, the food/drink/cigarette will be taken away as well as the costume piece, which I will then be keeping track of only until the actor needs to wear it on stage.
2. As a courtesy to your fellow actors and the people who have made and will have to maintain your costumes (not to mention the first row of the audience), I ask that no actor wear any sort of perfume or cologne and that you wear unscented deodorant. Trust me, it makes a big difference.
3. During the run of the show, actors are welcome to bring their own clothing home to clean if they would rather. HOWEVER, absolutely NO costume piece that is given to you by the designer is to leave the building without my permission. And a word to the wise, permission will only be given in cases of emergency. This will help to ensure that nothing goes missing and nothing belonging to the courthouse disappears after the run of the show.
4. Please respect the design choices of both your costume designer and your director, and under no circumstances should you alter the appearance of your costume without their consent. If there is a problem with your costume, please come to me first so I am aware of the changes made. Lots of time and effort go into each costume piece that is made, so please respect this rule. If Actor's Equity Association must abide by this rule, then we all should.
5. If there really is a problem, such as a costume not being flexible enough or being uncomfortable, please come to me right away so the problem is taken care of before it causes bigger problems.
6. I ask that actors provide their own footwear (unless a specialty style is needed) and their own undergarments. If something is purchased specifically for a show, that item will belong to YOU and will go home with you after the production has ended.
7. I will try to keep up with labeling to the best of my ability, but I ask that you label any garment or shoe you have brought in from home.
The only other thing I ask is to be respectful of your clothing, and remember we are clothing you to make you look the best for your character.
Thanks,
~Stephanie

Here we go...
As we kick off the Fall portion of the 2008 season, we thought it might be helpful to post rehearsal schedules and information about other important events online. Hopefully, this blog will serve as an easy way for everyone (directors, actors, and techies) to stay informed about the happenings here at the Courthouse!
